Remembrance Sunday

As Remembrance Sunday approaches, my office often receives enquiries about the local services that are taking place across Cannock Chase.

Below is a list of all the ceremonies. All are open to the public. Some also have church services, details of these and the availability of seating are provided by the individual churches.

 

Friday 11th November

Chadsmoor

10:30 a.m. Service at War Memorial including singing from Ex-Servicemen’s Choir and School Pupils, Readings, the Last Post and Wreath Laying.

Wimblebury

10:40 a.m. Service at War Memorial located on John Street, Wimblebury.

 

Sunday 13th November

Brereton & Ravenhill

8.55 a.m. Parade to assemble in Armitage Lane, at the entrance to Brereton Social Football Club.

9.00 a.m. March off to St. Michael’s Church for Service of Remembrance at 9:30 a.m.

10:40 a.m. Parade to assemble and march to Cenotaph for Service and Wreath Laying.

Cannock

10:15 a.m. Parade assembles on Stafford Road (outside South Staffordshire College), then march to War Memorial. Service and laying of wreaths at the War Memorial followed by service at St. Luke’s Church.

Chadsmoor

10 a.m. Service at Bethany Baptist Church, Chadsmoor; then proceed to War Memorial for wreath laying.

Heath Hayes

10 a.m. Service at Bourne Methodist Church, Hednesford Road, Heath Hayes.

10:30 a.m. Parade marches to Memorial Gates, Heath Hayes Park, for service and silence.

Hednesford

9.30 am Service at St. Peters Church, Church Hill, Hednesford. 10:30 a.m. Procession from Church to War Memorial.

10:45 a.m. Act of Remembrance Service at Memorial. Parade then marches through the town to The Hednesford Ex Servicemen’s Club & Institute for short Act of Remembrance.

Norton Canes

10 a.m. March from Jerome Primary School. 10.45 a.m. Outdoor Service of Remembrance at War Memorial window, St. James Church.

Rugeley

9.15 a.m. Church service at St. Augustine’s Church.

10.30 a.m. Parade assembles at Mansfield House Car Park, Market Street.

10:45 a.m. Parade marches off to the War Memorial.

10:55 a.m. Service at cenotaph; parade to march to Bow Street.
