Amanda Milling MP

Happy New Year, I hope that you had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to 2023.

This year, like any, I am here to support you with any issues you face, represent your views in Parliament and raise matters with Ministers. Over the past year my office has been contacted by many constituents needing help - the issues are so varied I could not list them all here, but as we start 2023 I already have many new cases. These range from housing repairs and highways issues, through to public transport and benefits issues. Whatever issue you have, however big or small, I am always here to help you as best I can.

2023 opened with a speech from the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, where he set out five clear pledges to the public.

Halving inflation. The Government will halve inflation this year to ease the cost of living and give people the financial security they deserve. Whilst inflation has fallen, it is still too high. The Government will continue working closely with the Bank of England, support people with energy costs and encourage people back into work.

Growing the economy. The Government will return to economic growth by the end of the year, creating better-paid jobs and opportunity across the country. Although we face economic challenges, the fundamentals of our economy are strong. The Government will continue to invest in innovation, skills and infrastructure.

Getting debt down. The Government will make sure our national debt is falling so that we can secure the future of public services. Without sustainable public finances, we will not deliver sustainable economic growth.

Cutting NHS waiting lists. The pandemic has put huge pressure on the NHS, leading to 100,000s of patients waiting too long for treatment. The Government will reduce NHS waiting lists so people can get the care they need more quickly.

Stopping the boats. The Government will pass legislation so that if you come here illegally, you are detained and removed. This builds on the five-point plan to tackle illegal immigration that the Prime Minister announced in December 2022.

These clear priorities represent the issues the Prime Minister believes you want action on. These are pledges I will be supporting and ensure that they are delivered for you.

As always, if you require my help with anything, please do not hesitate to contact me on amanda.milling.mp@parliament.uk or call 01543 877142.

We are incredibly fortunate to have the beautiful Chase on our doorstep, but I think we can all agree that for anyone who loves our area, nature, and wildlife - litter is a real 'bugbear’!
